David Jerkovich is a musician, producer, mixer, and engineer based in Los Angeles.

David grew up in the coastal LA community of San Pedro and started playing guitar at age 10. He formed his first band at 13, and spent most of his twenties as a touring musician with indie-rock cult favorites Kind of Like Spitting (Barsuk Records). He began his recording career with the first album of his long-time solo project Novi Split (Hush Records & Sunset Alliance), bookended by his newest solo project Deep Dreem.


Over the course of almost three decades of recording David has built an extensive skillset including producing, writing, engineering, and arranging. His credits include work with Moby, Dan Bern, De La Soul, Kool Keith, Julie Mintz, The Frights, Hobo Johnson, Ted Lucas, Lucas Graham and more. In 2022 he produced and engineered new records for AJJ and The Frights, which will be released in 2023.


David’s recent re-release project Over Fields and Mountains by Yugoslavian-American folk musician Branko Mataja was featured in The Guardian. He has performed with Moby several times including on The Tonight Show, and his work has been licensed for TV shows such as One Tree Hill.

He is co-owner of Balboa Studio in Glassell Park, Los Angeles, which he designed and built with partner Danny Nogueiras.
